ShoppingLong Tall Sally Reading

Even in times of economic slow down you can rely on shopping as a tried and tested way to enjoy yourself.  Even if you are not spending quite as much as you used to.

Reading's shopping really is a treat (unless you are one of those people who would sooner venture into a lion's den than wander through a shopping mall).  From quirky little sweet shops to high end jewellers,  we have a range of independent stores sitting alongside the major high street brands.

Our two big shopping centres - The Oracle and Broad St Mall - are a natural starting point for any expedition.  The Mall is home to TK Maxx, and feaures a strong line up of high street names, including famous bargain outlets like The Pound Shop, The 99p Shop, The Works and Argos.

The Oracle will appeal to anyone looking for high fashion and spectacular gifts (from delightful  ideas for all ages in Octopus to the very luxurious Hotel Chocolat).  The Oracle also has an unrivalled choice of eateries - covering the globe from Wagamama to Old Orleans.

Getting to Reading is easy - whether you want the convenience of driving (lots of good quality parking, or use our park and ride services) or the ease of public transport.  Most of our shopping areas are pedestrianised, and pavement cafes abound - so you can relax and watch the world go by as you take a break from bargain hunting.

You'll find lots more information, news and special offers if you browse the SHOP  section of our website (click on the orange link at the top right of this page).  The section includes useful maps and a guide to what shops you can find where.  But, honestly, we've pretty much got them all. Eating Out at The Oracle
