Student in University Lecture TheatreSkills for Life

Modern universities are no longer the ivory towers that they used to be.  As well as being places where innovation, research and creative thinking are given free rein, both of  Reading's universities also have strong links with business and successful entrepreneurship and start up business programmes.

Centre for Entrepreneurship

Even during a time of economic slowdown there is fierce competition for talent within a competitive global market. More than ever graduates need to be equipped to add value and harness opportunities to shape the future of British industry. Unsurprisingly, enterprise is fast becoming a core element of student experience.

The Centre for Entrepreneurship at the University of Reading offers a variety of teaching programmes designed to encourage enterprise and entrepreneurship amongst its under and postgraduate students.

Entrepreneurship is above all about creating ideas and negotiating resources. The innovative teaching programmes at the Centre for Entrepreneurship touch all corners of the campus and all levels of study. Whether students go on to work for themselves, a multinational, or the public sector, entrepreneurial skills will be central to their future success.

Malcolm Wicks, Vice-Chairman of the Institute of Directors, Berkshire, comments, “The IOD are strong supporters of the Centre for Entrepreneurship and many of our members are pleased to get actively involved in sharing their expertise and experiences in a variety of ways. It’s very encouraging to see such a successful centre at the University of Reading and to experience the energy and ideas of some very bright budding entrepreneurs.”
